Meet Rumsey Hall’s Newest Faculty and Staff

The new faculty and staff have arrived! With great enthusiasm, this group has spent the last week preparing for their start at Rumsey. We can’t wait for our students to meet them!

Troy Taylor joins the Upper School History Department. He holds degrees from Gettysburg College, Brown University, and Notre Dame, and brings experience teaching in both New York and Rhode Island. Troy will coach football and basketball and lives on campus.

Pete Simpson P’36 brings more than 20 years of experience as a teacher and school leader to his role as Upper School Director at Rumsey Hall. He previously served as Director of the Upper School at the Buckley School in New York City and as Associate Director at Columbia University’s Klingenstein Center. He holds an M.A. in Private School Leadership from Columbia University and a B.A. in Sociology from Dartmouth College. A passionate musician, Pete performs with The Choral Society in NYC and is a proud alum of the Dartmouth Aires. He lives on campus with his family.

Lucas Nelson, a graduate of Macalester College, joins the Math Department. With a major in Statistics and a minor in Spanish, Lucas was a teaching assistant and captain of the club hockey team. A marathon runner and enthusiastic community member, he looks forward to coaching soccer and taking an active role on campus.

Ellie Haveman will teach Upper School Science. She holds a BS in Environmental Science and Land Rehabilitation from Montana State University and brings a spirit of adventure and experiential learning. From wildland firefighting in New Mexico to teaching with a focus on outdoor education in New Jersey, Ellie’s background enriches her approach to science education. She lives on campus and will be coaching soccer.

Morgan Rubin will lead Upper School Music and Performing Arts. She holds a dual degree in Music (Vocal Performance) and Psychology from Emory University and earned her Master’s in Choral Conducting at Georgia State University. Morgan has directed choirs and led performing arts programs in both middle and upper schools Stoneleigh-Burnham School and Brunswick Academy and brings deep experience and fresh energy to Rumsey’s arts program.

Amelia Crimmins P’26, ’29 is excited to join Rumsey Hall as an Admissions Coordinator. For the past four years, Amelia has served as an Admissions Coordinator at The Taft School, where she managed campus tours and interviews and implemented a structured training program for student tour guides. Before working in admissions, Amelia was the Deputy Director of Licensing at the Board of Medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and a Regional Field Manager for the Massachusetts Hospital Association. Amelia holds a Master of Science in Public Affairs from the University of Massachusetts and a BA from Lewis and Clark College.

John Brown joins the Upper School History Department. A graduate of Western Connecticut State University, John comes to us from Virginia Episcopal School, where he taught, coached, and lived in a dorm. He will also serve as Head Football Coach while living on campus with his family.

Eric Stone will teach History and ESL History. With a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.Ed from Westminster College, Eric brings experience from classrooms in Utah and many summers of leadership at Camp Androscoggin in Maine. His thoughtful and hands-on approach to teaching will serve our students well. He is living on campus and will be coaching soccer.
