On Saturday, February 28, 2026, Rumsey Hall’s Girls Varsity Hockey Team delivered a commanding performance at Lufkin Rink, capturing the Przygocki Cup on home ice in a day defined by skill, teamwork, and Blue Dog pride.
Hosted at Rumsey Hall, the annual tournament honors Jay Przygocki, whose 50 years of service to the school have left an enduring mark on generations of students and athletes. As a faculty member, coach, and now completing his tenure as Athletic Director, Jay has shaped Rumsey’s athletic program with dedication, integrity, and heart. The Cup that bears his name reflects not only competitive excellence, but also the character and sportsmanship he has long championed.
A Dominant Day for the Blue Dogs
The tournament began with an opening welcome at 9:00 a.m., followed by three competitive matchups to determine the championship game.
In Game #1, Rumsey set the tone early with a decisive 4–1 victory over Upland Country Day. Later in the morning, Rumsey faced Hat Tricks in Game #3 and delivered an impressive 6–0 shutout, showcasing depth across the roster and disciplined play.
After a midday break, with lunch provided for all teams and coaching staff, Rumsey advanced to the Championship Game Facing Upland Country Day once again, the Blue Dogs rose to the occasion with a commanding 7–1 win to secure the Przygocki Cup.
The afternoon concluded with an award presentation, celebrating not only the champions but also the spirit of competition that defined the day.
Honoring a Legacy
Winning the Przygocki Cup on Rumsey’s home rink made the moment even more meaningful. The tournament stands as a tribute to Jay Przygocki’s remarkable commitment to Rumsey Hall athletics and to the values he has instilled in generations of Blue Dogs—hard work, resilience, and pride in representing one’s school.
