Rumsey Hall’s Pre-K students recently took their learning outdoors with two field trips that showcased the rich educational opportunities in the local community.
The class first visited Flanders Nature Center, where they learned about native animals, picked pumpkins, and enjoyed a tractor ride through the fields. The trip combined lessons about nature with the excitement of seasonal discovery.
A second excursion brought the group to the White Memorial Conservation Center for a program called “Sense-sational Study.” Through hands-on activities and encounters with live animals including a turtle, snake, and an owl, students explored how their five senses compare to those of other creatures. The experience encouraged observation, curiosity, and appreciation for the natural world.
Both trips are part of Rumsey Hall’s effort to extend early learning beyond the classroom, using local resources to help children connect what they learn to the world around them.
