Mr. Kinsella has been a dedicated member of the History Department at Rumsey Hall School since 2007. He earned his M.A. in American Studies from Trinity College and a B.S. in Philosophy from the University of Idaho. Mr. Kinsella finds great fulfillment in teaching, particularly when students make meaningful connections between historical events and contemporary issues. Witnessing their intellectual growth over the course of a year or two is one of the most rewarding aspects of his role.
Mr. Kinsella enjoys the multifaceted nature of his work, which includes teaching, coaching, and participating in residential life. He values the unique relationships that form when students see faculty members actively engaged in various aspects of their school experience.
Outside of school, Mr. Kinsella is happiest when he’s outdoors, whether he’s playing sports, cycling, golfing, fishing, or spending time with his family. He also enjoys working on a “fixer-upper” in Maine during his time away from campus.

Stephanie Proteau ‘15 attended Canterbury School and earned a B.S. in Marketing with a Minor in Management from Franklin Pierce University where she played Division I Women’s Ice Hockey. Returning to Rumsey in 2023 she is an Advancement Associate and a Girls’ Hockey Coach.  A scholar athlete and model of leadership  herself, she enjoys the opportunity to work with current Rumsey students who have an eagerness to challenge themselves in the classroom, on the ice and in community as leaders.  

Jay Przygocki began his remarkable journey at Rumsey Hall School in the fall of 1976. Over his nearly five-decade tenure, he has worn many hats as a teacher, coach, and dorm parent before stepping into the role of Athletic Director in 1983. With over 41 years dedicated to shaping Rumsey Hall’s athletic program, Mr. Przygocki has become a cornerstone of the school’s community.
Mr. Przygocki’s commitment to fostering sportsmanship and developing young athletes has been pivotal in the success of Rumsey’s athletic initiatives. His  passion for education and athletics is matched only by his devotion to the Rumsey Hall community.
He earned is M.A. in Education from Western Connecticut State University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Connecticut State College, where he was an accomplished baseball player.
Jay has three children Ania’s ’00, Tucker ’03, and Sawyer and four grandchildren. He and his wife Suzanne enjoy living at Old Foothills, a place many will remember fondly as their dorm off campus years ago.
Jay sums up his dedication with a heartfelt sentiment: “Rumsey has been my life and I truly love what I do to help students and athletes grow up to be outstanding members of the Rumsey Family.”

Liz Butler has been an integral part of the Rumsey community since 1999. She serves as the Co-Athletic Director and the Science Department Chair, where her expertise and passion for education shine through.  Ms. Butler holds a B.S. in Biology from Bates College and an M.S.Ed. in Teacher Leadership from Walden University. Her academic background and leadership skills significantly contribute to her dual roles at Rumsey.  In addition, she leads on the field as a Varsity Soccer Coach and on the water as the Varsity Crew Coach. 
According to her, the best part about teaching middle school students is the opportunity to spark an interest and ignite a passion in the science classroom, on the field, or on the water. She thrives on the unique chance to inspire young minds and guide them towards their potential.
Outside of Rumsey, Liz loves spending time near the ocean with her husband Rick and their daughters Erin (’20) and Abby (’23).
