Campus Growth: Honoring the Past, Building the Future

Rumsey has officially completed Romford Dorm, an inspiring milestone for the School and its future. A plaque honoring former Head of School Ian Craig now hangs in the building, a tribute to his visionary leadership in bringing this new dormitory to life. The project enhanced the School’s residential life by adding fourteen student rooms and three faculty residences.

To mark the new building in a truly Rumsey way, students from both the Lower and Upper School buried time capsules within the foundation that included messages and mementos to be opened by future generations of Rumsey students.

Over the summer, Rumsey officially began construction on the Bodling Academic Center, scheduled to open in early 2026. The new facility will feature four classrooms, two faculty residences, and spacious locker rooms for our female athletes conveniently located next to the athletic fields. This transformative space will expand opportunities for collaboration, learning, and community life, further strengthening Rumsey’s commitment to preparing students for remarkable futures.

These exciting projects are made possible by the generosity of our community. If you would like to know more about capital giving at Rumsey Hall, please contact our Advancement team via phone at (860) 868 0535 or via email at advancement@rumseyhall.org.

The Bell

Yesterdays so close, tomorrow’s persona,
Dappled light blankets, ground’s kimono,
Fall colored maples, hemlocks, and birch,
Silken touched fields, kids play, and search.
The race up Hilltop, hundreds of steps,
Burnt lungs, lactic legs, race of reps,
Wood plank treads, greet thunderous feet,
Last sprint up, team shouldered fleets.
Bantam River framed, crescent shape,
After hot days, chosen nature’s scape,
Rushing sounds, the water’s burble,
Granite smooth slides, history’s journal.
Each teacher, accompanied by canine,
A fitting tribute, to the school’s design,
The Rumsey Teams, each try their best,
School uniforms, proudly carry the crest.
Graduate or student, will always season,
Their experience hones, skills of reason,
Celebrate all the days, each time’s portal,
Rumsey Hall, a school of knowledge’s laurel.
Run do not walk, find your stride’s length,
Grab the chain, imbued with historical strength,
Pull with the force, you, the design of Heaven,
Ring the school bell, honor, to time’s beckon.
