At Rumsey Hall, boarding is a dynamic, purpose-driven experience. Students in Grades 6–9 live and learn on a 300-acre campus where accountability, independence, and meaningful relationships shape daily life. With faculty who live on campus and take an active role beyond the classroom, boarding students are supported by a community that knows them well and holds them to high expectations.

Dorm Life
No matter where you’re from, you’ll find a sense of home and belonging in one of our eight dormitories. Each dorm houses between 8 and 28 students, creating close-knit communities that feel personal and connected. Dorm parents, many of whom live with their families (and their pets!), provide around-the-clock guidance and support. They don’t just supervise, they invite students into their homes, mentor them through challenges, and help them build habits that last.
Dorm life at Rumsey teaches real-world skills:
- Managing time and schedules
- Resolving conflict and living with peers
- Taking responsibility for one’s space and choices
- Navigating independence with support
Each dorm develops its own spirit and identity, and students take pride in where they live. From friendly contests in pumpkin carving to competitive ping pong and dodgeball tournaments.
