Head of School Search Process

Broad community input was critical to effectively define the leadership, professional and personal qualities desired in our new Head. We scheduled forums for faculty, staff, students, and parents to meet with our consultants, and current and past community members had an opportunity to complete an online survey. 

The Board was responsible for appointing the Search Committee, which is responsible for managing the day to day aspects of the search process. The Board had final say in deciding who was asked to be our next Head of School. This is one of the most important roles that the Board plays for the School.

The Search Committee was charged with overseeing and managing the process of searching for a new Head of School. This includes: selecting the search firm; engaging with the Rumsey Hall constituent groups to define the leadership qualities and experience desired in our next Head of School; and managing an appropriately transparent, fair, and inclusive search process. The Search Committee reviewed candidate files, interview the most viable candidates, and identified finalists. After considering input from various constituents who meet the finalists, and conducting appropriate reference and background checks, the Search Committee recommended a candidate for appointment by the Board of Trustees.
