Woodshop Students Tackle a Challenging Project

Students from the spring Lower School AEP program had the opportunity to learn the craft of woodworking. With the guidance of Rumsey maintenance staff members Gary Lord and Jeff Travers, the class learned the ins and outs of planning, measuring, and building furniture. In this case, the team built a picnic table—from scratch! Though this was a difficult project, students learned that they are able to tackle hard things with training, patience, and collaboration.

In this hands-on afternoon activity, students used basic tools, paints, and the power of their working minds to assemble the unit. From there, the picnic table will grace the Rumsey campus for all students, faculty, and visitors to enjoy.
