The Dissipated Eight A Cappella Group Visits Rumsey

There was a harmonious air about the Rumsey campus this past week as The Dissipated Eight A Cappella group visited our neck of the woods. The group was established in 1952 at Middlebury College. Originally a barbershop octet, the group evolved alongside modern a cappella by incorporating new musical styles. Over the past five decades, D8 has compiled a vast archive of music, recording twenty-three albums thus far.

They perform across New England at high schools, colleges, and private venues. Sharing their love of music with a wide variety of audiences. Before their main performance they spoke with and practiced alongside Rumsey’s own Blue Dog Voices a cappella group. Sharing with them one of their favorite songs to perform, and passing along their wisdom. Then in a bit of a fun surprise, they brought the Blue Dog Voices up on stage in front of the school to perform live!

The Dissipated Eight has a strong connection with Rumsey, too. Rumsey alum Benjamin Weiss ’18 is part of the group, and we were thrilled to see him return to campus!
