Rumsey Celebrates the Lunar New Year
On February 9, 2024, the Rumsey Hall community came together to celebrate the Lunar New Year. This is an annual 15-day festival celebrated among East and Southeast Asian cultures. It begins with the new moon and festivities last until the following full moon.
Farmen Hall was decorated with paper lanterns, paper cuttings and couplets to create an authentic backdrop. A special dinner was served with families and friends on campus to celebrate the occasion. The community also came together to create around 2,000 dumplings!
Each year in the Lunar calendar is represented by one of 12 zodiac animals. The 12 zodiac animals are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. 2024 is the Year of the Dragon.
