Learning about the Bantam river
Rumsey Hall School students recently participated in a hands-on STEM class along the Bantam River at Treasure Island, right on campus. Taking full advantage of the school's beautiful natural surroundings, the students applied what they’ve been learning in the classroom by exploring the river for local wildlife. They discovered an abundance of crayfish, which sparked discussions on the ecological role of these creatures and their significance to Connecticut's environment and the broader ecosystem. The outdoor experience deepened students' understanding of how humans interact with and impact wildlife both locally and globally.
