Happy 122nd Birthday Rumsey Hall!

Faculty, students, and their canine companions marched through Upper School street down to Lower School street this morning, showcasing their school colors! These Blue ( and Red ) Dogs came out to help celebrate Rumsey Hal's 122nd Birthday!

In 1900, Lillias Rumsey Sanford started the second private nondenominational pre-preparatory school in the United States. It was called “The Terrace: Mrs. Sanford’s School for Boys” and was located in a mansion which Lillias Sanford’s father had built called Rumsey Hall. In 1906, Mrs. Sanford, who held the title of Director, moved the school from Seneca Falls, NY to Cornwall, CT, where it would remain until 1949. In 1949, the school made it's final move to Washington, CT.

Happy Birthday Rumsey Hall!
