Community Service Program: Spreading Sweetness and Care to Children Across the Globe

Rumsey Hall has a storied tradition of spreading kindness to our surrounding community. Students volunteer with the Rumsey Community Service Program in a variety of ways such as: collecting food items for local families, collecting trash in our towns, cleaning up our river and ocean fronts, diverting plastic caps from reaching our waterways, and ...sending personal greetings to children during the holidays!

This year, even though they aren't physically on campus, three remarkable students collaborated—Rumsey-style—and organized an outreach to child welfare associations and schools. Chris Liu '21, Alice" Xu '22, and Jami Huang '22 secured hundreds of Halloween greeting cards, wrote uplifting messages of care on them, stuffed them in compostable bags along with some tasty holiday-themed candies, and shipped them off to the organizations.

The children on the receiving end of this trios's act of kindness were thrilled to receive a personal note and a sweet treat.
