African-American Latino Alliance Students Hear Dr. Cornel West

Students from Rumsey Hall's African-American Latino Alliance, along with Head of School Mr. Ian Craig, Ms. DeGrazia, and Ms. Quinones, visited Taft School on Tuesday morning to hear an inspiring talk by Dr. Cornel West.

Thank you to Taft School for having us; and thank you also to Mr. Thomas Allen, Taft's Dean of Community, Justice, and Belonging, and a recent guest speaker at Rumsey, for extending the generous invitation!

Dr. West is the Dietrich Bonhoeffer Chair at Union Theological Seminary, where he teaches Bonhoeffer’s works, and courses in Philosophy of Religion, African American Critical Thought, and a wide range of subjects (including but not limited to) the classics, philosophy, politics, cultural theory, literature, and music. Dr. West is the former Professor of the Practice of Public Philosophy at Harvard University and Professor Emeritus at Princeton University. He has written 20 books, notably Race Matters and Democracy Matters, and his memoir, Brother West: Living and Loving Out Loud. His most recent book, Black Prophetic Fire, offers an unflinching look at nineteenth and twentieth-century African American leaders and their visionary legacies.
