2024 Spooner Classic Volleyball Tournament Champions!
On Saturday, November 2, Rumsey Hall proudly hosted the 49th Annual Rick Spooner Classic Volleyball Tournament, welcoming teams from Indian Mountain School (IMS), Berkshire School, and Westover School to compete alongside our Varsity Volleyball team. The afternoon was filled with intense competition, skillful plays, and a spirit of camaraderie as teams battled for the coveted title.
Our Blue Dogs demonstrated outstanding athleticism and determination throughout the tournament. Rumsey secured a decisive victory over Berkshire and held their ground in a tight match against IMS, ending in a well-earned draw with a score of 1-1. Before advancing to the finals, Rumsey faced Westover, who fought with incredible tenacity. Nearly all of the sets went beyond 25 points, with the final set culminating in a nail-biting 29-27 win for Rumsey.
In the championship match, Rumsey clinched the title with a thrilling win over IMS, lifting the trophy in honor of Rick Spooner, the founder of Rumsey's volleyball program and the namesake of this beloved event.
Congratulations to all the teams for their spirited performances and to our Blue Dogs for their remarkable achievement. Here’s to another memorable Spooner Classic and the legacy of Rick Spooner, which continues to inspire our athletes and school community alike. Go Blue Dogs!

MVP: Gabriela Barros - 16-pont serving streak against IMS
Each team also chooses its two top players of the tournament who then make up the All-Tournament Team and earn awards. For Rumsey, these players were Sharon Kim and Andy Ko.
