Spreading the Cheer with Holiday Hot Cocoas & Story Time

Spreading the Cheer with Holiday Hot Cocoas & Story Time

One of our most beloved traditions at Rumsey Hall is our holiday story time with the Head of School. Each year, we pause from our everyday activities to come together in Farmen Hall to celebrate the season with a festive book, the joy of togetherness, and of course, a tasty snack. This year, classes have begun to nestle down fireside by our stone hearth, sip hot cocoa, snack on candy canes, and enjoy the reading of a winter-themed book.

Each class will get a turn to experience the story time event throughout the weeks leading up to Winter Break. For example, the IVth Form class sat down with Head of School Ian Craig to read Blizzard by John Rocco. Blizzard recounts the infamous blizzard of 1978, which brought fifty-three inches of snow to Rhode Island.

To honor every grade with a lasting gift, we dedicate a new book to each class every year as well. These books are available to check out from the school library. The IVth Form class received the book Leonard (My Life as a Cat) as their holiday gift for this year!
