Rumsey Hall’s mission statement includes the education of its students to become a contributing member of a community. Rumsey students and faculty are regularly involved in a variety of community service projects, learning the importance of giving back to the local communities. The work at these activities is geared toward the middle school age group. These trips engage the students and faculty with other youth and adults, giving them a chance to work together with new people. The students and faculty embrace this ideal and willingly share their time with those in need.
Students are not required to complete any community service during their time at Rumsey Hall. Yet, the program continues to grow in participation. Service learning opportunities have become a standard offering every weekend for both boarding and day students. Rumsey students are deciding to spend their free time on the weekends helping others in our local communities.
Students are notified about upcoming volunteer trips during morning meeting announcements and postings on the community service bulletin board in the main study hall. Students are asked to sign up in person with Miss Duff for their volunteering effort.
