Appreciated Securities & Real Estate
On appreciated securities and real estate held long term, the tax
deduction equals the fair market value of the securities at the time of
the donation. Additionally, the donor avoids the payment of capital
gains tax. Please call the Development Office at (860) 868-0535 for

Matching Gifts
Having your company match your cash or securities gift is a great way
to increase your annual donation. Many companies match gifts made by
employees (or employees' spouses) to non-profit organizations. The
match may be 1-1, 2-1 or even 3-1. Ask your human relations office if
such a program exists at your company, or call Rumsey for a list of
matching companies. You can usually obtain the proper form from the
human relations office, which must be filled out by the employee and
sent to Rumsey Hall. You will receive credit in the Annual Report from
Rumsey Hall for both the original and the matching gift.
Bequests
An increasing number of alumni/ae, parents and friends are naming
Rumsey in their wills. A bequest is an excellent way to ensure the
School¹s future. If you name Rumsey in your will, please notify the
Development Office so that we can thank you and note your bequest in
our records.
Life Insurance
The tax deduction on a gift of a life insurance policy equals
approximately the current cash surrender value. In addition, your
future premium payments are fully deductible. An insurance gift assures
a large gift at a future date to Rumsey Hall.
Charitable Remainder Trust
Creation of a CRT will allow the donor to have use of the income on
assets during the donor's lifetime. The remaining assets will pass to
