Winter 2012-2013 Ski/Snowboard Program

Dear Parents:

The following information is provided to help you decide if your son or daughter will be participating in our 2012/2013 Winter ski/snowboard program. The program is offered as an option to the regular winter athletic program which includes Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball, Girls’ and Boys’ Ice Hockey, Wrestling, and Winter Volleyball.  The Athletic Department encourages participation in a team sport whether it is one of the above choices or the Ski Team. Should you and your child decide that Recreational Skiing/Snowboarding or Ski Team is his/her sports choice for the Winter Term, the information below pertains to it. If your child will be skiing/snowboarding only on weekends, please read this material as well.

The Varsity Ski Team (the top 13 skiers at Rumsey in Forms IV-VII), the Varsity "B" Ski Team (13 skiers at Rumsey in Forms IV-VII), and recreational skiers/snowboarders (Forms III-VII), ski Monday through Friday. All Rumsey students are eligible to ski/snowboard at Mohawk Mountain on the weekends provided BOTH of the attached PERMISSION FORMS are signed and returned. PLEASE NOTE: For safety reasons, it is mandatory that all students participating in our winter ski/snowboarding program wear a helmet. If you have not done so already, please purchase a helmet before your child returns to school in January so that he/she may participate in the program. You can also purchase a helmet from Mohawk Mountain.

Winter Athletic Fee (includes $365 transportation fee)          $640 (for full-time skiers/boarders)

Ski & Snowboard Rentals for the season                            $139 (ages 15 and under)

In order to insure safety on the slopes, we will be requiring all recreational skiers to go through a structured testing program at intervals throughout the season. There is an additional cost for this. Your child’s account will be billed as lessons and testing occur.

The Rumsey Hall Permission Form, the Mohawk Season Pass Agreement, Rental Agreement Form (if applicable) and a check made payable to RUMSEY HALL SCHOOL to cover skiing/snowboarding expenses should be returned to Julie Fredlund no later than Monday, December 3, 2012. Children who do not have completed forms and required fees paid up front will participate in another team sport during the Winter Term. A processing fee of $50 will be charged to your child’s account if a pass picture is taken, but not used for the season. Fees will be prorated through January 20, 2013. Effective date of cancellation will be the date which the pass is turned in to the Business Office.

Passes must be turned in to the Business Office and any rental equipment turned into the coach upon pass cancellation. Refunds will not be processed until this has been done. There will be no refunds after January 18th on rentals or passes. If you have any questions, please call the school office at 860-868-0535.
