COMPUTER AWARENESS
This is a trimester-based course for Upper School students which
meets two periods per week. Students are introduced to information
technology and various issues of computer literacy. The course
combines hands-on experience with opportunities for students
to discover the influence that computers have on their lives.
Students begin by mastering key-boarding and word processing
skills. Upon successful completion students may take courses
in databases, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, programming
in VISUAL BASIC and controlled research on the Internet.
State of the art computer facility
All Rumsey Hall students have access to two computing facilities.
Our research center and math computer lab have 31 IBM NetVista
X40 1 GHz computers, each with Pentium III processor, 256 MB
Ram, CD-Rom, 40 GB hard drive and 15" flat screen monitors.
We are equiped with a full band T-1 line. Students are provided
with instruction and access to research on the Internet and
e-mail accounts. All classrooms are equiped with computers for
instructional use.
